Levy Failed

 

The good news is that the West Muskingum income tax levy failed on March 4.  The bad news is that it barely failed!  In a state that has the second highest business tax burden in the nation, the fifth highest personal tax burden in the nation, and in a district that is losing jobs to other states, it is a shame that this levy barely lost.  It also is informative to the voters: with decreasing employment in the private sector, a growing percentage of the voters are the bureaucrats and bureaucracy employees who stand to gain from exploiting the taxpayers for a cause to which they would not give willingly.  All taxpayers owe a HUGE thank you to Steve Mitchell and other taxpayer guardians who placed the StopSchoolLevies.org signs around town in the weeks before the race.
